And sth we are aware of is surely safer than the uncertainty of the unknown, at least we know we can survive it, actually we are surviving it and that is a fact. Any attempt towards a different direction contains risk. And risk takes guts. Another theory might claim that it requires effort to escape from a certain state, a situation that is considered bad for us.
